PROFESSIONAL IMAGE

Science + Art = Style

Most professional’s image is designed around his or her personal preferences, while others let fashion dictate their look. This can create inconsistencies and lead to a lack of confidence in one’s self.

The Personal Branding Center combines science with the art of dressing. This involves combining one’s physical characteristics (science) with their inner personality, fashion trends, and personal tastes (art). This is what separates one from anyone else who might have the same face shape, body type, and coloring.

When combining the science and art of creating a professional image, only then can one dress for his or her position, company, their organization’s products, and services, and meet their client’s expectations, all without losing your own sense of style.

Consistency is Key!

The keyword in real estate is location, location, location. Where one’s professional image is concerned it is all about consistency, consistency, consistency. An image should reflect the inner essence of who one is. Combined with that essence and one’s physical characteristics, a balance must be implemented to ensure this consistency.

Perception

When an employee’s image is dated, sloppy and unkempt, then the perception of his or her work and abilities are also perceived as dated, sloppy, and not organized. This can impact his or her success potential, impacting the organization’s Bottom Line!

Wearing the right things, saying the right things, or doing the right things are not what makes one successful!

It Is All About Confidence!

It is the inner knowing that one looks their best, communicates their best, presents themselves to the best of their abilities in any capacity, that communicates confidence. And it is this confidence that translates into success!

Whether your employees are identified as up and coming or are already highly visible in the organization, this program will ensure that he or she develops and maintains a professional image so that others take notice!

Elemental Wardrobe Color Palettes

Program Agenda

Elemental Wardrobe

Color Pallets

The Personal Branding Center created the 4-Elemental Wardrobe Color Palettes™:

4-Elemental Wardrobe Color Palettes

Each of these palettes helps one determine the best clothing colors as well as the best colors for accessories, hair, and makeup. The purpose of these pallets is to ensure that everything that one wears, harmonizes with their personal coloring which consists of their skin, hair, and eye colors.

Wearing colors that harmonize with one’s personal coloring looks refreshed, more youthful, and vibrant. And it is this knowledge of wearing the right colors that help one project confidence, and it is this confidence that translates into success!

Wearing colors that do not harmonize with one’s coloring is created when his or her skin absorbs these colors, making them look tired and drained of energy, and can age someone as well by highlighting wrinkles or creases on the skin. Hair can become drab, washed out if you will. And eyes can become less vibrant or void of color. None of which of these does anyone wish to create!

How Does The Color

System Work?

HVC Wheel

Every color you see consists of three color characteristics: HUE, VALUE, CHROMA. Each Elemental Wardrobe Color Palette™ is defined by these color characteristics.

HUE

Every color in existence has an undertone color predominately yellow or blue. For example, tomato-red has an undertone of yellow, and apple-red has an undertone of blue. This is why there are many different shades of red, and why a person may be complemented by one shade but not another.

VALUE

Value refers to the lightness or darkness of a color. Sky-blue is lighter in value because it contains more white than black, and navy-blue is darker in value because it contains more black than white.

CHROMA

Chroma refers to the clear or muted nature of color. For example, a muted color is made by adding gray to a clear color. Pink is clear, mauve is muted.

Elemental Wardrobe Color Palette Color Concepts

Fire

warm | light | clear

The FIRE palette consists of warm, clear, bright colors. This does not mean that it does not have dark colors, but even those colors have a lightness to them. A Fire’s coloring is typically clear and transparent, like that of a flame.

Earth

warm | rich | deep

The EARTH palette is unique, as it consists of bright and muted colors. There are some Earths that can wear brighter colors, like the Fall time of year when the leaves begin to change. Think of pumpkins, reds, and bright yellows. As these colors begin to tone down, they become richer; eventually becoming muted.

There are some Earths that look best in the muted colors of the palette. And some look great in both the bright and muted colors.

Air

cool | light | subtle-contrast

The AIR palette consists of soft, cool, muted tones. Their colors are “heathered” in nature, as the AIR’s personal coloring is as well. This soft contrast between the skin, hair, and eyes is typically accompanied by a soft, amiable personality. Mostly they are quiet and aesthetic by nature.

Air people gray softly and slowly. They tend to become more attractive as they get older. Their “colors” can get “too” bright for the total look because it can be overwhelming of their inner essence.

Water

cool | dark | sharp-contrast

This WATER palette is made of dark, vivid colors and is typically best worn in sharp contrast. A Water has a hi-contrast between the skin, hair, and eyes, which is why the colors from this palette work so well when worn. They should avoid earth tones around the face completely. Particularly the “olive” complexion.

Be careful not to mistake this complexion type as warm, because it has a blue (cool) undertone as all Waters do. It’s called olive because the skin has a green cast. Although technically, olive is a warm-green color. An olive complexion sounds better than a green complexion.

Numerical Charting System

Although a color may be in your Elemental Wardrobe Color Palette™, you may not be able to successfully wear it. To help determine your very best colors and make the best possible wardrobe investment, the Personal Branding Center created the Numerical Charting System™.

The next step after you organize your wardrobe is to create a wardrobe “Checklist”. This list will contain those items you need to replace and those items you need for your wardrobe. This will become your shopping guide. It allows you to plan and save accordingly. This process will reduce your shopping time by 50% and your mistakes by 100%.

Personal Clothing Style Profile

One’s Personal Clothing Style Profile™ is based on the four basic clothing styles of Classic, Dramatic, Romantic, and Natural. Many people are the personification of one of these styles; however, many can be a combination.

One’s style is determined by his or her physical characteristics and personality traits.  The Personal Branding Center has developed a system to help identify a primary and a secondary style, that when combined creates a look of to its own.

CLASSIC

"Think Traditional"

Classics love structure and look best when dressed for more conservative occasions, such as the traditional business look when appropriate. They like to wear solids and stripes, and more neutral colors. Anything else is “too much”. Classics love a tailored look. Sloppy is not in their vocabulary. They typically are structured even down to knowing what they are going to wear to work the next day. Classics typically stay on schedule and do not like their environment to be disrupted. “Keep It Simple” is a Classic’s motto!

DRAMATIC

"Think Trendy"

Dramatics love to break the rules when it comes to dressing. Tell a dramatic they cannot do something and they will most likely turn around and do it. They think of themselves as trendy and up-to-date on the latest fashion trends. They love color! Dressing appropriately for the office can be a challenge unless they work in a creative industry. Dramatics might need to “tone it down” at times. They love their independence, but they need to be sure not to overwhelm others with their self-assurance! “More is less” is a Dramatic’s motto!

NATURAL

"Think Casual"

Naturals love the outdoors. Whether it is sports or a picnic they are most comfortable in natural surroundings. Naturals are more comfortable in casual clothing and should think texture. Patterns come from weaves of the garments, as bold patterns are “too much” for their casualness. Black-tie is not their favorite garb. In a corporate environment, be sure to not look unkempt. “Comfort is key” is a Natural’s motto!

ROMANTIC

"Think Elegant"

Romantics love the finer things of life. Presentation is everything. They don’t care how the food tastes, but it better look good when it is being presented. Romantics are very esthetic. They like to “experience” things before they purchase them, such as touching and feeling the fabric of a garment. To reflect their inner essence in the office Romantic’s should wear finer fabrics, keeping accessories elegant, yet minimal. "It Is all about style" is a Romantic’s motto!

Physical Characteristics

One’s physical characteristics have a huge impact on how a professional image is developed and maintain. These consist of one’s face shape and body type. We call these “framing components”. How one frames his or her body help project the inner essence of who one is.

Face Shapes

Knowing your face shape is critical. It helps determine how to select the best “framing components” that work best with your face shape: haircut/style, eye-wear, collar lines, and accessories for women.

For example, if your face shape is similar to that of a diamond, it simply means your forehead and jawline are narrower than your cheekbones. This also means that your facial features (hairline, jawline, nose, chin) which make up the silhouette of your face shape, are more angular. This face shape is often referred to as having high cheekbones.

Body Type

There are three body types:  angular, combination, and curved. We are either one of these or a blend of these. Your body type determines which silhouette lines, fabric weights, patterns/prints, details and fit that best accommodate you.

Angular

  • straight and angular lines of the body
  • square shoulders
  • angular facial features
  • sharp or prominent nose, jawline, and cheekbones
  • shoulders wider than the waistline
  • Shoulders align with hipline or wider

Combination

  • soft-straight lines of the body
  • tapered shoulders
  • soft-straight facial features
  • defined, but not too sharp line for the nose, jawline, and cheekbones
  • shoulders slightly wider than the waistline

Curved

  • soft-curved lines of the body
  • rounded or sloped shoulders
  • soft-curved facial features: facial bones are small and delicate
  • softer-curved lines for the nose, jawline, and cheekbones
  • hips equal or wider than the soft-curved shoulders
